Episode 222 – Maximiliano Hernandez and Christina Wren / audio

Superhero movies

Maximiliano Hernandez (@maxitois4real on twitter) and Christina Wren (@ChristinaSWren on twitter) join host Craig Price to discuss their roles in superhero movies.

It’s a crossover episode! Craig’s latest podcast project Matinee Heroes spotlighted the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier and included half of the interview from Marvelous Nerd Year’s Eve with Max (they’re close enough pals to use shorter names) but Christina also was dishing out wisdom too. So why waste such good stuff? Craig wouldn’t, of course. So here is their interview in its entirety.  The three have a great discussion on how Marvel’s (Max appeared in Thor, Avengers and other Marvel projects) process compares to DC’s (Christina appeared in Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman), how they found out they were going to be in these huge blockbuster movies and what it’s like meeting Robert Redford.  They also take questions from the audience as well.

Be sure to check out Matinee Heroes each week! What is Matinee Heroes? It is a podcast dedicated to exploring hero cinema – from adventurers, heroes, to superheroes; from Jedi to buddy cops; from the Wild West, to the distant past, to futures both hopeful and dystopian, from ancient lands to the deepest reaches of outer space. In a time when we need heroes more than ever, Alan and Craig will try to understand just what makes our cinematic heroes tick, and how we can use that heroism in our everyday life.

Episode 221 – Alan Cerny – 2017 Oscar Predictions / audio

2017 Oscar Predictions

Alan Cerny (@NordlingCS on twitter) joins host Craig Price to discuss their 2017 Oscar Predictions.  It’s Season 7! It wouldn’t be Reality Check if the season didn’t start with the Oscars.  Craig and Alan predict their choices for the 2017 Academy Awards, why the Oscars seemed to come down to about 7 movies, why someone should have or shouldn’t have been nominated as well as who they think WILL win and who they think SHOULD win. Craig rails against La-La-Land, especially Ryan Gosling, Alan talk about the importance of a movie like Moonlight, they argue if Elle was a mansplaining movie and they both plug their new spin-off podcast, Matinee Heroes.

Each February, past guest and friend of the show, Thom Singer has his annual fundraiser for the Kate Singer Endowment for Cranio-Facial Research. It’s a good cause and the money goes to the Dell Children’s Medical Center out of Austin and Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego. Please consider donating by clicking here to donate. Episode 213 – Cary Gordon – Rebranding / audio

rebranding

Cary Gordon with Prime Camera (@PrimeCameraUSA on twitter) returns to discuss rebranding with host Craig Price. It’s not common that a guest not named Alan Cerny comes on the show twice in a year. Last time, Cary came on to discuss his position as Social Media Marketer for Comicpalooza. This time, he’s here to discuss his day job with Microsearch, a name you may have heard in our speakers roundtable episode over the summer. When Cary mentioned to Craig that Microsearch was rebranding to become Prime Camera, even Craig could see that this would be a perfect opportunity to bring a case study to the podcast.  The two discuss the process of rebranding, why a company of 33 years felt now was the time to change, how to plan for a major change, dealing with resistance, how the new branding brought a larger scope to the company. and oh yeah….the briefly talk about how Batman v Superman sucked.  You can’t put two comicpalooza people in a room without it getting a bit nerdy.

Prime Camera grand opening will be October 12th at their location at 11500 S Sam Houston Parkway West Houston ,TX with a full day of workshops, discounts and prizes. You can find them at their new website http://primecamera.com as well as on twitter @PrimecameraUSA,  Instagram at PrimeCameraUSA and Facebook.
